PROTOZOEA

There are three distinct protozoeal substages. First protozoea formation of all thoracic somites unstalked compound eyes and naupliar eye abdomen unsegmented ending in bilobed telson swimming with two pairs of antennae and first two maxillipeds continuous swimming and feeding Second protozoea compound eyes become stalked appearance of rostrum and supra-orbital spines buds of the remaining thoracopods appear abdomen divided in 6 segments, telson not separated from the sixth segment Third protozoea appearance of biramous uropods telson distinct from sixth abdominal segment (Dall et al, 1990)
